A Unique Champagne, Krug Grande Cuvée was born from the dream of Joseph Krug: to offer the very best Champagne possible every year, regardless of climatic variations.
Each year, Krug perpetuates this vision through a new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, a Champagne renowned for its richness, depth, and complexity.
Going beyond the very notion of vintage Champagne, Krug Grande Cuvée is crafted from a blend of more than 120 wines drawn from over ten different harvest years. This approach creates a breadth of flavors and aromas that no single year's wine could ever express on its own.
Krug Grande Cuvée 169th Edition is a blend of 146 wines from 11 different harvest years. The oldest wines date from 2000, while the youngest come from the 2013 harvest.
The blend is composed of:
・40% Pinot Noir
・35% Chardonnay
・22% Meunier
Reserve wines account for 43% of the final blend, enhancing the generosity, roundness, and elegance that are essential hallmarks of Krug Grande Cuvée.
For more than 20 years, the cellar team and skilled artisans have carefully nurtured and managed these wines with exceptional craftsmanship. This dedication is an indispensable part of the Grande Cuvée-making process. Through this meticulous work, the House has created its 169th Krug Grande Cuvée, revealing Champagne in its fullest and most expressive form.
Food Pairing:
Thanks to its remarkable richness and versatility, Krug Grande Cuvée pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes, from simple fare to the most refined cuisine. It complements everything from specially aged Parmesan cheese to turbot enhanced with truffle flavors.
It is equally enjoyable as an aperitif alongside Jamón Ibérico and aged Comté cheese, and pairs particularly well with oyster dishes, grilled prawns, Indian cuisine, and Moroccan cuisine.
For dessert, it is especially recommended with carrot cake, tarte Tatin, and cheesecake.
Tasting Notes:
Its pale golden color and fine, lively bubbles are a testament to the pleasure this Champagne delivers.
On the nose, it reveals aromas evocative of flowers in full bloom, ripe fruit, dried fruit, citrus fruits, marzipan, and gingerbread.
On the palate, layers of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, fruit jellies, citrus fruits, almonds, brioche, and honey unfold with remarkable depth and elegance.
